Yacht Magic

Langkawi Yachts

Langkawi Yachts

Langkawi is a  tropical island situated on the North East Coast of peninsular Malaysia. The island itself takes about an hour and a half to circumnavigate by car (longer if you hit a water buffalo) and around 24 hours to cruise around it on a sailing yacht. The main island is covered by thick rainforest which is lacerated by corridors of roads, accommodation and rubber plantation. It is very much an ideal family destination without any of the sin and hard drinking associated with Bali and Phuket.

Langkawi Yacht Charter provides chartering experiences around Langkawi.  http://www.langkawiyachtcharter.com/shared-eco-adventure-day-cruise.html

The magic of Langkawi is not to be found in the main island itself. Langkawi is just the largest island in an entire archipelago of around 100 extremely diverse islands. In the Southern sector there is a fresh water lake frequented by gazillions of tourists in speedboats daily in peak season. There are however unspoilt, shimmering, ivory beaches with nobody on them, caves to explore, fish to catch and sleepy bays from which to enjoy a gin and tonic as you watch  another lava sunset.

The Southern islands are dominated by Dayang Bunting island and the slightly smaller Tuba island. Tuba is one of the few of the other islands that is populated and it even has a road, or two. Its very off the beaten track and a nice location to take a ramble. You can cross the entire island in about an hour by foot. A mangrove river bisects the two islands and a 100 meter bridge spans the river, connecting the small fishing community on Dayang Bunting with the slightly larger island community of Tuba. At the mouth of the passageway there is a floating hut with a mangrove guard who stops people from fishing in the mangroves. It's a great place to explore in a dinghy and find a little unspoilt nature and solitude.

There is another group of island in the South East of Langkawi. These are raely visited and if you keep your eyes open at sunrise you can see wild pigs from time to time. A cave on one island is stuffed full of fruit bats and at about twenty minutes before sunset they all come out at once like something out of a horror film.

If its solitude, beauty and adventure you like then you can't do much better than theEasternIslandsof Dendang and Langun. Langun island also has a fresh water lake and it takes around an hour to hike to through primary untouched rainforest. Dendang island has a massive cathedral of a cave on its tip and like a giant melting nose the oldest stalactite in Langkawi hangs down, guarding the entrance. At the other end of ending cave is the Dead Chinaman's Cave. There is of course no dead body floating inside, but if you look up behind you as you enter the cave you will see a cave stalactite that is the spitting image of a man in an aspect of prayer wearing a conical paddy field hat.

This whole area you are unlikely to see another tourist the whole day, just the occasional passing long tail with its phut phutting engine. This area also has the Kilim River and Kisap River mangroves which stretch from Kuah to Tanjung Rhu resort, the pirate cave and Dedap cave with its blow hole.

Langkawi islands are densely packed and not too far from the main island making this one of the finest cruising grounds for short distance cruising in the world. A sailing yacht, is the best way to cruise the islands by far. If you were to just want a short day cruise through Langkawi's islands then the area at the Kilim River is best with its wildlife crammed mangroves and remote islands. If you have a little longer a 3 day cruise will allow you to see all three of the main locations. However long you have - take to the water!

Yacht Blog

Embed Flash Video In A WordPress Blog

There are many reasons why people want to add Flash videos to their WordPress blog sites. Maybe they want to introduce their website and products to their visitors, use as a training aid, show a webinar or simply show the new baby to distant relatives. What ever reason, website videos are used more and more every day.

If you have a real estate agency what could be better than a walk through tour of a property, a walk through of a yacht if you are a yacht broker or tours of sports clubs, hotels, workshops or what ever product you want potential customers to see.

You can hardly visit YouTube or Google Video to find a video about your hotel or sports club, you will have to make your own video or have it made for you. But let's not talk about hotels and sports clubs, lets talk about you and the eBook or software program that you want to promote which is the reason lots of us have.

To get Flash video up and running we need to download some files and prepare our site. So lets get started now.

Step One: Preparing your site.

There are several plugins available for embedding flash video on your website, some are better than others and some are more user friendly. WP-FLV is one, FLV Embed is another and WordTube is the one that we will be using here. Visit the site, read up on the plugin and download it. Unpack the zip file and upload the folder into the WordPress plugins folder. Note do not change the folder names. You will also need the free, for personal use, Flash Media Player from Jeroen Wijering. Download the player from the website, unzip it and upload only the mediaplayer.swf file into the wordtube folder. Activate the plugin.

Go to your admin area, then Options, Manage, WordTube to set up the options. You can use the default upload folder or change it to another such as wp-content/videos. You can upload your files via Manage-Media Center. Note for streaming videos the Flash player will not show a preview, therefore you need also to upload a image (thumbnail) file. After uploading your video you can insert the tag (MEDIA=ID) into your post where you wish the embedded Flash video to be displayed. ID is the number of the video in the Media Centre. Make sure that you use UPPER case otherwise it will not work.
